PHB delegates his wasted time efforts to Dilbert. Dilbert jinxes himself.
Strips like this make me think the PHB is mildly competent and mostly selfish or cruel.

Wally is the master at getting no where fast. His indifference is off-putting, yet admirable when you consider it's plausible and mildly excusable. Now granted a month is rather inexcusable amount of time to not bring up questions. Wanting to ask in person sounds plausible, but not writing any questions to ask is down right lazy regardless.
Did I ever mention I was fired for not calling my boss when I had questions? I worked weekends and she refused to check her email on weekends. I didn't feel like I knew her well enough to call her at home, but I didn't know she deliberately avoided email on weekends. I personally think she hated my politics and used my lack of communicating by phone as means to fire me.

Laziness has its virtues. I hate when I put a lot of effort into something only to find I was misguided and have to start over.
I hate depending on other people to get my job done.
Communication is hard when people don't have a relationship worthwhile to develop.
I have to train a guy to do various elements of his job, but I know that the likelihood of his being around long term is marginal. Why train him in everything when he can just be good at one thing until he quits rather than marginally bad at most things until he quits?

Wally has a system that works for him. When a system works, it seems wise. When the system involves Wally it's either about coffee or laziness.
I've taken to a systems approach where I don't try to have goals. I try to be the best at being myself and to seize each day as best as my bipolar disorder allows me until my carpal tunnel makes me to take life slow again.
I have found long ago that I don't like making plans... I get bent out of shape when my plans don't go as I hope. To avoid the treadmill of disappointment, I avoid making plans. I try to ride life in the moment like a reality surfer. I know change happens, so I adapt to it when it happens rather than change without cause. Why break something that works fine?
Sure I have vague ideas about how to go about my day, but I allow my environment to dictate 90% of my day. I got married to a planning type of person who is content with status quo on many fronts. I'm status quo on the daily stuff but am ambitious about vague stuff in the future, like saving for retirement.
When I had my accident on vacation, I stayed sane by shrugging it off and doing the best I could given the circumstance. I hadn't made the vacation plans, so I wasn't breaking my plans by being late from the delay and such.
My system has room for improvement, but it works for me.

Not sure what to say about Dilbert walking with a woman in a non-work related setting. I have only been following the strip a few months, so I didn't know he was into women. Nothing remotely oozes relationship drama, so I find myself thinking that Scott was having a fart of time creating a strip in January.

Coffee can only get you so far in management, for Wally, at least.

Wally sees management as being above doing actual work. Seems I've had a few of those sorts of managers in my day. Usually they were lifers that just became management by default. Wally seems to have a system that works for him. He has set the bar low and is content with his lot in life because laziness suits him.

Okay, Dogbert makes a line that is pure Scott Adams about politeness that mirrors fairness being for children and the stupid spiel. It's a re-occurring element I have noticed given my liking his coffee talks on Periscope.
